The concept here is that we're so far back, even the likes of Cthulhu, Yog-Sototh, Nyarlethtotep, and and Shubniggarath are relatively new. At this point, the stars were /always/ right. To make things easy, I'm thinking the common sentients are at least nominally humanoid. This is dangerously close to furry/hybrid territory, I know, but I think it can be done.
