Niko,

Posted my response (and linkback to this one) over at http://www.wyrmis.com/journal/2009/12/1701-response-posthuman.html

It's slightly on a different topic than yours, but was definitely inspired by it.

Could be a potentiality. The concept here is that we're so far back, even the likes of Cthulhu, Yog-Sototh, Nyarlethtotep, and and Shubniggarath are relatively new. At this point, the stars were /always/ right.

To make things easy, I'm thinking the common sentients are at least nominally humanoid. This is dangerously close to furry/hybrid territory, I know, but I think it can be done.

I commemorate Gumtu, the only Star Trek foundling that ever really called to me. O surely no humans. ? What if your old races were gradually and sporadically revealed as the ur-types of Earth's gods? Misrememberings.

Brain attack, as is likely apparent, is a category of writing for the late night skull squeezings that constitute most of my actual writing. These are random, often rough, always odd little squirts of inspiration. Enjoy.

Replicants can extract memory, teach each other virtually anything. Learning capacity of a toddler, with adult mind. Follow patterns for predictions that border on the precognitive. Understand interpersonal play deeply enough so as to be nearly telepathic. Replicants are among us, illegal and desperate, but perfecting blending in.
